Well, yes, there is the artwork... Where to start? It's a long story.
The short version is that The Hideout has over 70 paintings on exhibition,
hung salon-style on 16-foot walls. Some paintings stay for a week
or two, others for a year or more. Most are for sale, but not all,
and well, the only consistent thing about the collection is that
they are all works on panel or canvas, and all painted by contemporary
artists from the great Pacific Northwest. Landscapes, abstracts,
surreal, portraits – erotica, there really are never two pieces
alike. The pieces are all labeled with really small numbers that
in the dark are very hard to read. Ask the bartender for a flashlight.
Then find the Sound and Vision book that lists all of the music
and art on the walls. We take Visa and MasterCard.
The jukebox also carries another 90 or so pieces, all 4-3/4"
x 4-3/4" and inserted in the flaps that usually house album
covers. Instead you’ll find photographs, illustrations, drawings,
collages and prints. With work by Jim Blanchard, Tomiko Jones, SuttonBeresCuller,
Rick Klu and Robert Hardgrave (just to name a few) it is a treasure
chest of Seattle artists. Same as the walls, we only trade out works
at the end of each month.
For submissions, the best thing to do is e-mail us a few images
of your work or a link to your website. We are discriminating and
often overloaded with submissions, but if the work is strong (in
our very subjective way) we will contact you.
